RICHARD THOMAS KEIT

Born in 1955 at Lowell Massachusetts, Richard moved his family to Malibu at the age of three (he was a determined child). Several moves later and encouraged by his school teachers to pursue the exact sciences, he started working his way up the corporate ladder in the burgeoning computer industry at the age of 19. A visionary only in the world of tile, Richard saw no future in computers and after shining brightly one summer day at Catalina Island's prestigious annual art show, Richard jumped ship in 1979 to pursue his own get-rich-quick scheme...making tile. Oh, fickle lady of fortune, you never mentioned the endless hours, days, years. Now with decades behind him, his own kids working for him and the wrinkles deeply set upon his brow, Richard has managed to postpone enough vacations to carve a place for himself in the annals of tile making history.

MARY CATHERINE KENNEDY

Born in 1959 in the badlands of North Dakota, Mary has been drawing and designing since she was a young hayseed. She studied art and ceramics at the University of North Dakota and in 1990 joined RTK Studios and the offer to combine her skills, mostly grunt work for cheap wages, producing decorative tile. Soon her enthusiasm, talent and dependable vehicle made her Richard's working partner. Mary and Richard's technical and aesthetic teamwork have brought projects from around the globe. Mary would like tile for their house.
